Anthony Azar and Carter Burgess led the Kats offensively as
they won the final game of the series against Dallas Baptist, 12-8, Saturday.
Azar was 4-for-6 with five RBI and three runs scored. The
catcher started the scoring in the third with a bases loaded single to drive in
two. He homered in the fourth inning to drive in three more.
Burgess also finished 4-for-6 in the game and he drove in three
runs. The shortstop's two RBI single in the ninth inning provided some
insurance for the Kats after DBU got within a run.
Starter Andrew Godail went six innings and gave up five runs
but was credited with the win. Tyler Eppler pitched 1/3 of an inning in relief.
Michael Burchett pitched the remaining 2 2/3 innings and allowed only one run.
The Kats ended DBU's six game winning-streak.
Sam Houston will play Baylor Tuesday in Waco and Wednesday
in Huntsville with both games at 6:30 p.m. The Kats will then open Southland play
against A&M-Corpus at Don Sanders Friday.
