Seven Kats Earn NTCA Academic Honors

Kimi Davidson, a junior from Azle, was named as a second team selection in the NTCA Academic team. The history major holds a 3.45 overall grade point average (GPA).
Michelle Secours, a senior from Brockport, NY, earned third team honors with her 3.52 overall GPA as a criminal justice major.
Freshmen Erin Brown (pre-nursing major, 3.44 GPA), Anna Groce (biology major, 3.85) and Hannah Harrison (marketing, 3.54); sophomore Rebecca Pittser (biomedical studies, 3.10) and junior Kelsey Smith (information systems major, 3.93) all received honorable mention NTCA academic honors.
Davidson, Secours and Smith all produced perfect 4.00 GPAs during the 2013 spring semester.
The 2012-13 Sam Houston women's bowling team earned its third consecutive top 10 ranking, rolling up a 102-40 match won-loss record and a No. 7 final national ranking. The Bearkats earned a berth in the NCAA Division I Elite Eight championships for the second time in the three-year history of the program.
The NTCA honored fifteen student-athletes with first, second and third team mention. A total of 164 student-athletes representing thirty four schools were named to the NTCA's academic honor roll. To be honored, student-athletes had to achieve a minimum of a 3.4 grade point average during the recent academic year.
