SHSU men tie for 12th at Border Olympics

The Sam Houston men's golf team tied with Southland Conference rival Stephen F. Austin for 12th place in the Border Olympics in Laredo during spring break weekend.
The Bearkats posted a team score of 305-295-301 - 901 in the event.
Zach Cabra led the Kats with a 54-hole total of 76-73-71 - 220 to finish 19th in the individual standings.
Other Sam Houston totals included Albert Miner 46th 79-73-74 - 226, Logan Boatner 52nd 78-72-78 - 337, Klein Klotz 64th 72-79-78 - 229 and Andrew Johnson 89th 81-78-82 - 241. Kyle Hodges of SHSU competed as an individual competitor, shooting a card of 78-80-85 - 243 to place 91st.
Host team University of Houston won the event with a 54-hole score of 294-284-280 - 858. The Cougars' Roman Robledo won the individual medalist title with a 71-68-70 - 209 card.
Oklahoma was the team runner-up with a score of 859. Rounding out the top 10 were Baylor 863, Louisiana-Monroe 879, Texas-San Antonio 883, Gonzaga 888, Lamar 889, Central Arkansas 896, Northern Colorado 897, McNeese and Air Force 898.
Following SHSU and SFA in the standings were Texas State 907, Houston Baptist 920, Texas-Arlington 928 and Texas-Pan American 948.
