TULSA, Okla. -- The Sam Houston State women's golf team claimed its first team title of the season as they rallied past Oral Roberts at the ORU Shootout at Meadowbrook Country Club. The Bearkats were two strokes back of the Golden Eagles going into Tuesday's final round.

The Kats finished five strokes ahead of the host Eagles and the combined team score of 880 was a tournament record.

Just two strokes separated the top four Bearkat finishers as they all finished in the top-10.

Paige Nelson just missed a second straight individual medalist title after she finished three strokes behind ORU's Alejandra Acosta. The sophomore won last week's ULM Fred Mark Invitational and the team finished second.

Alisa White and Nicole Budnik were both tied for fourth with combined scores of 220. White has finished in the top-15 in all three events this season and in the top-10 twice. This was Budnik's best performance of the season so far.

Freshman Sarah Black had the best tournament of her young collegiate career, finishing sixth. Her second-round 72 set her up for a strong finish.

Brooke Fouts (79-77-80-236) was tied for 42^nd.

The Bearkats get to play at home next week as they host the 2014 SHSU Harold Funston Invitational at Raven Nest Golf Course.
