SAN ANTONIO -- Logan Boatner's second-round 66 was the highlight of the UTSA Oak Hills Invitational, as the Sam Houston State men's golf team finished seventh out of 15 teams.
The senior from Atascocita had the best round of his Bearkat career and tied for the fifth lowest score in school history. He birdied five holes and eagled the par-five 15th hole. Boatner also had the Bearkats' best score in the first round, a one-over 72.
Sam Houston had a slow start to the tournament and the team was seventh after the first round. Along with Boatner, senior Zach Cabra and Jake McCrory each improved their scores in the second round to move the Bearkats up to third going into the final round.
Boatner finished fourth in the individual medalist standings.
Fellow senior Zach Cabra was the only other Bearkat to finish inside the top-25. His final round 72 was the Kats best score Tuesday.
Freshman Jake McCrory (75-72-75-222) finished tied for 34th, senior JT Taylor (75-75-76-226) was tied for 50th and sophomore Andrew Ertel (77-77-77-231) finished tied for 66th.
No. 5 Baylor won the event by 16 strokes. They were the only team to shoot under par. UTSA was second at 14-over, while No. 20 Oklahoma was third. North Texas was fourth, Wichita State and Houston Baptist finished fifth.
The next action for Sam Houston will be at the Houston/Rice Bayou City Intercollegiate February 20-22.
