Steele wins title at Border Olympics

LAREDO - Noah Steele won the individual title on Tuesday at the Border Olympics in Laredo as the Sam Houston men's golf team finished third in the 17-team event.

Steele, who carried a three-shot lead heading into the final round held off a hard charging Zan Luka Stim from Arkansas State to win the title.

Steele shot a round of 72 on Tuesday after round of 66 and 69 on Monday. The round was good enough to notch his second title of the season and third of his career, after winning the opening event of the year at Southern Miss.

William Holcomb also checked in with a top 10 finish, taking 8^th place after shooting a 77 on Tuesday. He entered the day in second place at 6-under.

As for the team, they weren't able to replicate Monday's second round where they shot a 12-under, 276 and entered the day with a five shot lead. They shot a 300 as a team Tuesday and finished in third, four shots back of team champion ULM.

Freshman Ting-Wei Hsieh and sophomore Jack Randle finished 55^th at 10-over while Luis Carrera was 62nd at 11-over. Grayson Blunt was playing as an individual and closed the tournament 15-over and in 72^nd place.

The Kats will be back in action in two weeks as they head out to California for the Lamkin Grips SD Classic in San Diego.
