Men’s golf finishes 8th at Oregon State

Corvallis, Oregon — The Sam Houston men's golf team made a third-round charge to place 8^th at Oregon State Invitational on Tuesday at the Trysting Tree Golf Club on Tuesday

The Bearkats shot 300 and 290 during the first two rounds Monday and finished with a 289 Tuesday for a 5-over par 879 at the par-71, 7,384-yard course. Kansas State won the tournament with a 3-under 849 followed by Washington State (863), Tarleton (865) Southern Mississippi (871), Utah (873), Seattle (875) and Oregon State (875).

Josh German led Sam Houston with a 28^th-place finish at 6-over 219. He had rounds of 72, 73 and 74.

Ting-Wei Hsieh tied for 33rd after shooting rounds of 76, 76 and 68 for a 7-over 220. He had birdies on hole No. 1, 5, 13, 14 and 16 to finish 3-under on Tuesday. Bret Gray also tied for 33^rd with rounds of 71, 74 and 75.

Daniel Moon tied for 51^st at 81, 72 and 72 to finish at 12-over 225, and Gene Chaikangwal tied for 70^th with rounds of 83, 71 and 76 for 17-over 230.
