Kats tie for 3rd at White Sands Invitational

PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas — The Sam Houston men's golf team closed out the White Sands Bahamas Invitational with another round under par to finish tied for third at the Ocean Club Course on Sunday.

The Bearkats closed with a 4-under 285 for the second straight day to finish at 17-under 847 along with Arkansas State and No. 44 Southern Miss. Duke, which is ranked 38^th nationally, won the event with a 41-under 823 and Stetson was second at 843.

Behind Sam Houston was VCU (850), ULM (850), Troy (851), Nebraska (851), UTEP (853), Texas State (868) and Delaware (874).

Bret Gray led the Bearkats by tying for third place at 11-under 205. He closed out a strong tournament by shooting 4-under 68 on Sunday which included an eagle on the par-4, 306-yard 17^th hole and birdies on 1, 4 and 13.

Ting-Wei Hsieh turned in his best round at 2-under 70 Sunday to finish tied for 32^nd at even-par 216. Gene Chaikangwal tied for 32^nd as well by closing with a 4-over 76.

Samuel McKenzie carded a 2-over 74 to finish tied for 37^th at 1-over 217. Josh German tied for 46^th thanks to an even 72 to post a 3-over 219.
