Kats place 8th at Border Olympics

LAREDO — The Sam Houston men's golf team placed eighth at the Border Olympics at the Laredo Country Club on Tuesday.

The Bearkats finished with a three-round, 25-over par 889. Baylor placed first at 8-under 856 followed by Houston (871), Michigan (879), ULM (880), Coastal Carolina (881), Wright State (885) and Louisiana Tech (888).

Kristoffer Max was Sam Houston's highest individual finisher, coming in tied for 14 with rounds of 73-72-74 for a 3-over 219. Ting-Wei Hsieh tied for 24^th after shooting a 6-over 222 with rounds of 70-75-77.

Samuel McKenzie finished tied for 29^th with a 7-over 223 after posting rounds of 72-73-78. Josh German tied for 45^th at 10-over 226 with rounds of 72-76-78. Bret Gray tied for 52^nd at 12-over 228 with rounds of 75-75-78.
