RUSTON, La. — The Sam Houston tennis team was close to earning a key road win but eventually lost to Louisiana Tech 4-3 at the LA Tech Tennis Complex on Friday.
In singles play, the Bearkats (3-4) got off to an impressive start when freshman
Andjela Vidovic defeated Olga Bienzobas 6-0, 6-3 at the No. 2 spot. Sam Houston lost at No. 3 and 5 but rebounded to pull closer when freshman
Megan Basson rolled to a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 1 against Leonie Schuknecht.
The Bearkats' other point came at No. 4 singles where sophomore
Sahithi Vutukuru defeated Ilana Tetruashvili 6-3, 7-5.
Isidora Zivkovic and
Lusine Chobanyan picked up a win at No. 3 doubles. They topped Bienzobas and Alexia Romero 6-4.
Sam Houston will play Murray State on Saturday at the LA Tech Tennis Complex.
