HUNTSVILLE — The Sam Houston tennis team made quick work of former Southland Conference foe UIW with a convincing 6-1 victory on Sunday at the McAdams Tennis Center.
The Bearkats (3-1) claimed the doubles point with dominating wins in the top two spots.
Andjela Vidovic and
Sahithi Vutukuru coasted past Kinga Psut and Gargi Pawar 6-3 at No. 1, while
Megan Basson and
Petra Kaszas rolled over Taylor Parkinson and Sofia Franco Salcedo at No. 2 6-2.
After losing the first set 3-6,
Isidora Zivkovic battled back to defeat Pawar with consecutive 6-2 sets at No. 2 singles. Vutukuru secured the match victory by taking care of Psut 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3 singles.
Sunskrithi Damera was impressive at No. 4 singles with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Parkinson. Kaszas outlasted Alejandra Landaluce 6-4, 7-5 at the No. 5 spot.
Sam Houston will play Nicholls on Feb. 12 and Southern Miss on Feb. 13 in Thibodaux, Louisiana.
