Bearkats take title at UTSA

SAN ANTONIO – In their final tournament before postseason play begins, the Sam Houston Bearkats secured their fourth championship of the season, winning the Maryb S. Kauth Invitational by 11 shots over the hosts from UTSA.

Jennifer Herbst won the individual medalist for the first time this season, finishing the 54-hole tournament at 3-under. She claimed the title by five shots, and was the only golfer to finish under par for the event. It's her 7^thtop 10 finish of the season and fourth time inside the top 3.

Zulaikah Nasser shot the second-best round of the day with a 75 and moved up two spots to take runner up. Her score of 75 was just one off the low round of the day. It's her 4^th top 3 finish of the season.

Leah Alberto also moved up the leader board on the final round, shooting a 76 and moved up four spots to finish 6^th.

Anna Takahashi shot a 78 on Wednesday and finished 41^st. Viera Permata Rosada closed the tournament with a 79 to finish in a tie for 31^st.

The tournament victory is the first of the spring semester for the Bearkats after winning the opening three events of the season.
