The Sam Houston tennis team bounced back with a 6-1 win at Southern this past Sunday and will stay on the road to face Texas A&M-Corpus Christi this weekend.
The Bearkats improved to 3-4 on the season with the victory over the Jaguars in Baton Rouge, Louisiana that concluded a three-match road trip. Sam Houston's match against Tulane on Feb. 10 was postponed due to weather and the Kats lost to South Alabama 4-0 in New Orleans on Feb. 11.
In the match against Southern,
Megan Basson defeated Takalani Molaloa 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles.
Paula Cerda knocked off Kourtni Stewart 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2.
Anastasia Khokhlova won her No. 4 singles match 6-2, 6-3 against Sasha Taruberekera while
Vianne Schwab took down Kai Wince 6-3, 7-5 at No. 5.
Aaliyah Hohmann made quick work of Olivia Jenkins on the sixth court with a 6-0, 6-0 victory.
The Bearkats won the doubles point as Basson and Cerda defeated Molaoa and Agye Mintah 6-1, and Hohmann and Khokhlova topped Jenkins and Stewart 6-2.
Sam Houston will face Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Sunday at noon.
