Incoming Sam Houston golf freshman Hugo Trommetter made a splash at the DP World Tour Ras Al Khaimah Championship on the European Tour this week. 
 
In in the first round, Trommetter started fast getting to 4-under through 12 holes to climb the leaderboard inside the top 15 and eventually finished with a 2-under 70. He made six birdies total for the day.
 
He ended the day tied for 30th while playing among the world's best professionals and well inside the cut line.
 
The second round provided solid play, but Trommetter was just unable to get the putts to drop and make birdies. He finished with a 3-over 75 with 15 pars and 3 bogeys and tied for 100
th to miss the cut.
 
This week afforded the Bearkat signee the chance to play among current Ryder Cup players as well as former Ryder Cup players and captains.
 
"It's definitely a great experience and I learned a lot from it, only positive things," Trommetter said. "This has been great for what's coming up and for my confidence."
 
Trommetter will begin his career with the Bearkats this fall as they began their first season in Conference USA.
