Kats capture title at UNF Collegiate

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Sam Houston women's golf team ran away with the championship at the UNF Collegiate on Monday and Tuesday at the Jacksonville Golf and Country Club.

The Bearkats fired rounds of 282-282-286 to finish with a 14-under 850. Furman was a distant second (864) followed by Western Kentucky (874) and North Florida (874), Xavier (875), Penn State (879), Daytona State College (881), Kennesaw State (882), Arkansas State (883) and Iowa (890) and Charlotte (890) in the top 10.

Zulaikah Nasser placed third in the individual standings. She carded rounds of 71-68-72 for 5-under 211.

Leah Alberto was right behind Nasser in a tie for fourth place. She shot 69-70-72 for a 4-under 212.

Jenn David gave Sam Houston three in the top 10 as she tied for seventh. She turned in rounds of 70-72-72 for 2-under 214.

Viera Permata Rosada and Jennifer Herbst just missed top-10 finishes. Rosada placed 12^th with rounds of 73-75-69 for 1-over, while Herbst tied for 13 with rounds of 72-72-74 for 2-over 218.
