
Kats take ninth vs loaded field in Oklahoma

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. – The Sam Houston women's golf team finished ninth of 16 teams in a loaded field on Monday in the Dale McNamara Invitational at Cedar Ridge Country Club.
In a field which included 12 teams from either the Power 4 or the Group of 5, the Bearkats lowered their scores each day to finish ninth at +72 over 54 holes. Amelia Guo led the Kats by finishing in a tie for 18th with rounds of 73-75-73.
In the end Arkansas ran away with the team title, finishing at +6 overall. The next closest team to the Razorbacks was Oklahoma State at +27, followed by Oklahoma at +43.
The Razorbacks also placed three individual players in the top 10, including the only players under par in Kendall Todd (-2) and tournament champion Reagan Zibliski (-5).
Grace Jin was second among Bearkat players for the week and 34th overall, recovering from an opening round of 80 before firing 76 in Round 2 and closing with a solid round of 73. Victoria Renzi shot rounds of 81-77-78 for a 61st-place finish, while Grace Heinle and Cari Denson each finished tied for 65th.
Heinle fired rounds of 82-77-81, while Denson turned in a week of 78-79-83.
Sam Houston will quickly be back in action next week when they take part in The Ally at Old Waverly Golf Course in West Point, Miss. The tournament will begin Monday, October 21, and is hosted by Mississippi State.
