
Kats close fall with solid showing at The Ally

WEST POINT, Miss. – The Sam Houston women's golf team turned in a solid performance this week, finishing sixth at The Ally, hosted by Mississippi State, at Old Waverly Golf Course.
The Bearkats rebounded from a slow start in Round 1 to turn in solid Rounds 2 and 3 for their sixth-place finish with four of the five teams ahead of them being from the SEC, three of which are nationally ranked.
Grace Jin continued to play well individually, finishing at -3 for the week for a seventh-place finish, her third top-10 finish of the season to date. She shot 71-72-70, moving up eight spots in the individual standings with her final round.
Amelia Guo went 72-69-74 to finish a shot under par for the week and in 15th place finish, while Gracie Heinle scored five birdies in her final 10 holes of Round 3 to shoot up 14 spots on the leaderboard for a 36th-place finish with rounds of 77-75-72.
Other Bearkat finishers include Victoria Renzi in 86th place with rounds of 81-83-77 and Cari Denson in 86th place with rounds of 84-78-81.
The trip to the Magnolia State concludes the fall portion of the 2024-25 schedule for the Bearkats as they will resume play in the spring the weekend of February 23-24 in Arizona at the Westbrook Invitational, hosted by the University of Wisconsin.
