
Trip to Hawaii next up for women's golf

LAHAINA, Maui – The Sam Houston women's golf team is headed to the Aloha State in Lahaina, Maui for the 39th annual Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational, beginning Monday, March 24 at Royal Ka'anapali Golf Course.
The event, hosted by Hawaii, will consist of 54 holes with 18 holes on Monday, 18 holes on Tuesday and 18 holes on Wednesday at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start each day.
The course hugs the shoreline with the 5th hole being just off the beach before winding its way to the West Maui Mountain foothills. It features plenty of water hazards, sand traps, tight fairways and stunning scenery.
This par 72, 6,013-yard tournament has been played since 1986. This is the first time that the Bearkat women will compete in this event, one of the biggest tournaments in the 50th state. The Kats will face tough competition with the 17-team field, which includes 47th ranked UC Davis and 49th ranked Oregon State.
Live Scoring will be via Scoreboard by Clipped with updating scores throughout the round as well as results at the end of each day
