Women's golf closes week in Hawaii

LAHAINA, Maui – The Sam Houston women's golf team closed out the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational in 14th place on Wednesday at the Royal Ka'anapali Golf Course on Wednesday.
The 3-day tournament, hosted by Hawaii, saw the Bearkats finish at +22 for the week, two places behind 47th-ranked UC Davis. Washington took the team title shooting -19, while Sacramento State finished second at -8.
Grace Jin was the low scorer for the Kats, shooting even with a scorecard of 70-73-73 for the week, including five birdies in the opening round, and finishing 20th overall. Amelia Guo was just behind her, coming in 26th at +1, shooting 72-74-71 after taking off a couple strokes in the final round.
Gracie Heinle shot four over with five birdies in the final round to finish 40th, (76-71-73), Victoria Renzi in 88th, (76-77-81), and Cari Denson in 96th, (87-81-80).
The Bearkats will compete again in two weeks when they travel to College Station for the Mo Memorial, hosted by Texas A&M, at Traditions Golf Course beginning Monday, April 7.
