Softball to host Bearkat Invitational

HUNTSVILLE — Sam Houston will host the Bearkat Invitational at the Bearkat Softball Complex from Thursday through Sunday.Â
The Bearkats (7-4) open tournament play against HCU (1-8) at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. A total of 10 games will be played over four days. Austin Peay (5-5) and Prairie View A&M (3-5) will close out the tournament at 11 a.m. Sunday.Â
Sam Houston is coming off a 9-4 loss to Lamar on Tuesday. The Bearkats battled through seven innings but were unable to overcome an early deficit.Â
Freshman Sophia Lundstrom leads the team with a .444 batting average, followed by Bella Perez at .424. Perez also leads the Bearkats with 10 RBIs and four home runs. Veronica Harrison has a team-best four doubles.Â
