HUNTSVILLE – The Sam Houston baseball team will open a challenging week of play on the road on Tuesday when it travels to College Station to face the No. 20 Texas A&M Aggies at Blue Bell Park.Â
Tuesday's game can be watched on SEC Network+ with Andrew Monaco and Scott Clendenin providing audio. It can also be heard on the Bearkat Sports Network with Carlos Zimmermann on the call. The game can also be followed via Statbroadcast or by following @BearkatsBSB on Instagram and X.Â
The Kats have won six of their last eight games after taking consecutive weekend series at FIU and at home over WKU. Freshman Mason Murphy is scheduled to make his first career start, having gone multiple innings in half of his six relief appearances to date. Â
Sam Houston is 4-2 in midweek games in 2026 and will be going for its third Tuesday win in a row after taking down Lamar and UT Arlington each of the past two weeks. Â
Â
SERIES vs the AGGIESÂ
- The Bearkats trail the all-time series with the Aggies by a 43-93-2 margin with the teams having split the last eight games since 2016 with Sam Houston last won in College Station in 2023Â
Â
NOTESÂ
- Sam Houston is coming off a series win over WKU, getting 15.0 shutout innings of pitching from its first two starters, Ryan Peterson and Tyler Ryden, to win its first-ever weekend over the HilltoppersÂ
Â
- The offense has functioned better since the return of Ryan Franden for Conference USA play. The Kats are averaging 5.45 runs per game in the 11 games since Franden's return, compare to just 4.58 runs per game in the 12 games he missedÂ
- Franden currently is riding a 6-game hit streak which includes three multi-hit games and a pair of multi-RBI outings. Freshman Cade Corcoran goes into Tuesday having reached base in 17 straight games, the longest such streak by a Bearkat freshman since Lane Brewster reached in 24 straight games in the 2022 seasonÂ
Â
- Sam Houston will be in search of its second Power-4 win on the road this season, having already won at Houston. It would be the first time since 2023 when the Kats won at Texas A&M and Texas Tech that they picked up multiple road wins over P4 schoolsÂ
Â
- The Kats will also be in search of their first road win over a ranked opponent since that same 2023 season when SHSU won two of three games at No. 25 Grand CanyonÂ
