HUNTSVILLE – Coming off a sweep of NM State, the Sam Houston Bearkats will look to keep its momentum high when it hosts Baylor for a midweek game on Tuesday at Don Sanders Stadium.
The Bearkats had dropped 11 in a row before going into Las Cruces over the weekend and sweeping NM State to surge back up the Conference USA standings. Sam Houston finally got its bats going, averaging eight runs per game on the weekend, including homering four times in Sunday's 12-10 win in the series finale.
Freshman Gabe Winans is schedule to get the start for the Kats against the Bears in what would be his third midweek start of the season. He will be opposed by freshman Caldwell McFaddin for Baylor.
Tuesday's game is scheduled to be aired on ESPN+ with Matt Pedersen and Kayle providing the call.

Sam Houston finished with five long balls on the weekend while its pitching staff did a good job keeping the Aggies in the ballpark, surrendering just one homer. The Kats used just four pitchers in the first two wins before turning to freshman righties Collin Aloisio, Cooper Harris and Zak Johnson to carry the load out of the pen on Sunday.
Freshman Cade Corcoran put together his best week as a Kat, homering three times with seven total extra-base hits in five games last week. That included Sunday's game which featured a pair of doubles and his fifth homer of the year. Ryan Franden continues swing a hot bat with four multi-hit games in his last five outings, as do Wes Baker and Nathan Fink. Baker had a pair of 3-RBI games in Las Cruces, while Fink is coming off a 2-homer game on Sunday.
