HUNTSVILLE – The Sam Houston Bearkats will go after their first home midweek game on Tuesday when they host the Texas A&M Aggies at Don Sanders Stadium.
The game watched on ESPN+ with Matt Pedersen and Kyle Rogers on the call. It can be followed via Statbroadcast or by following @BearkatsBSB on Instagram and X.
The game is the fifth of a 9-game homestand for Sam Houston and the first time the Kats have hosted the Aggies since 2021. The Kats have won half of the last 10 meetings with A&M dating back to 2014 and had won consecutive games in the series before the Aggies escaped with a 9-8 win at Blue Bell Park a year ago.
Sam Houston is coming off dropping a weekend series to NM State, while the Aggies went to Knoxville and claimed their first SEC series of the season by sweeping a Saturday doubleheader from No. 1 Tennessee.
Sam Houston will give the ball to right-hander Cam Diaz who has looked strong of late with 12 strikeouts in 5.2 innings over his last three appearances without a walk and just one run allowed. Much of that came on Friday vs NM State when he punched out eight Aggies in 4.0 innings of 1-hit, scoreless relief.
He'll be opposed by Texas A&M freshman righty Gavin Lyons who will be making his second straight midweek start after throwing 4.0 scoreless frames a week ago vs UIW.
