Kats tie up the series after a 13-5 win over the Aggies

HUNTSVILLE – Bearkat bats were hot as Sam Houston took down New Mexico State, 13-5, in game two of the conference home-opening series Saturday at the Bearkat Softball Complex.
Sam Houston (17-13, 3-2 CUSA) fell behind early after surrendering five runs to the Aggies (14-13, 4-1 CUSA) in the first inning. The Bearkats responded by shutting down New Mexico State at the plate and taking control of the game, highlighted by a six-run final inning to secure the win.
Kendall Daniel started in the circle and pitched all six innings, recording seven strikeouts. Sophia Lundstrom went 3-for-4 at the plate with three runs scored and an RBI, driving in Kerrlauhn Deas. Tricia Yarotsky added four RBIs on the day along with a run and a hit.
The Bearkats will look to take the series Sunday at 11 a.m. at the Bearkat Softball Complex.
