Kats close out sweep of Prairie View

Freshman Collin Aloisio earned his third win in four starts on the mound this season and five Bearkat (8-7) hitters turned in multi-hit games with Sam Houston scoring in five of six innings at the plate. Hunter Alvord homered and scored four times in the game, while Caleb Cotton and Cade Corcoran had three hits and two RBI apiece on a day that saw SHSU pound out 15 hits and draw a dozen walks from PVAM pitching.
Alloisio was the first of three SHSU arms to throw and was efficient once again, striking out four and scattering five hits while needing just 64 pitches to get thru 5.0 innings. Mason Murphy and Kade Neuenschwander followed with scoreless frames in the sixth and seventh innings.
The Kats wasted no time getting to Prairie View (4-10) starter Kamar Dove, touching him up for three runs in the first inning and another in the second on a 2-out single by Cotton.
Sam Houston took advantage of a pair of errors in a 5-run third inning and then got the game past the 10-run limit in the fifth on an RBI double by Wes Baker and Alvord's 2-run blast to left.
Easton Dean took advantage of his first at-bat of the year, blasting a 3-run homer in the sixth, followed by an RBI single by Corcoran to cap the scoring.
UP NEXT
The Bearkats will head to Baylor to take on the Bears at Baylor Ballpark on Tuesday before returning home to host Jax State for a weekend series to kick off CUSA play.
